Alcúdia is undoubtedly one of the most historically rich and charming towns in Mallorca. It also has many other things such as spectacular beaches, mountains, sports, and lots of fun ...all which will make your holiday in Alcúdia a sure-fire success.

Today we going to delve into several different possible activities you can do during your holidays in Alcúdia.

The walls of Alcúdia

One of the main attractions of the municipality are undoubtedly the walls of Alcúdia. These defended Alcúdia from numerous attacks for centuries and now they magically surround the old town of Alcúdia, giving the municipality a period atmosphere and charm of all of its own. One cannot think of Alcúdia without thinking of the walls that enclose it.

The walls of Alcúdia, are in fact two walls with two completely different styles, on the one hand we find a medieval wall of Alcúdia and on the other hand a wall built in the Renaissance style. Both have been declared sites of historical interest.

The medieval wall of Alcúdia is the most popular and the one that is in the most perfect condition. Its construction dates back to the beginning of the fourteenth century, it originally had 26 towers distributed along the1,5 km perimeter. After the damage it suffered in the 16th century, another line of wall was built, the Renaissance wall of Alcúdia. This second wall suffered a sad fate, at the end of the 19th century it collapsed, but there are still remains of the Renaissance wall of Alcúdia to be seen and admired.

The walls of Alcúdia are a mandatory visit during your holidays in Alcúdia. You really cannot afford to miss the opportunity of walking along the on top of them and see the wonderful views of the old town. in fact, it makes for a fabulous romantic destination, especially for those looking for that special moment.

The Historic Centre of Alcúdia

Once we have finished walking along the walls of Alcúdia, it is time to lose oneself in the Historic Centre of Alcúdia with its many narrow streets full of Mallorcan stone houses.

Plus, every Tuesday and Sunday the historic centre of Alcúdia is flooded with small local stalls offering both residents and visitors a market of local products. Market days are a unique opportunity to visit the historic town during your holidays in Alcúdia.

The Watchtower of Alcúdia

It is time to put on comfortable clothes and boots because we are going on an excursion through Alcúdia to the Atalaya de Alcúdia, its highest peak and an ideal way to get back in touch with nature during your holidays in Alcúdia.

It is a beautiful excursion, where the blue colours of the sea and the green of the forest take centre stage. There are many possible routes and, depending on your tastes and local conditions, you can choose the one that best suits you. The most popular way to the Alcúdia Watchtower is to start from the Ermita de la Victoria and from there head your way up to the top of the mountain.

After working up an appetite, you really need to visit the el Mirador restaurant at la Victoria, its views over the Pollensa Bay and the Serra de Tramuntana are unsurpassed.

Alcúdia Beaches

How could a blog about holidays in Alcúdia, not mention the fabulous beaches of Alcúdia? Especially for those who want to spend a quiet and relaxed holiday in the Sun.

The first beach that we find within the municipality is the outstanding Alcúdia beach. A wonderfully long beach of pure white sand. On the Alcúdia beach there is never a lack of space, and it is full of activities for you to do. You can play volleyball or soccer on the sand or if you wish you can also kayak or SUP in its crystal-clear waters.

Although if you are looking for more privacy, we recommend one of the most beautiful and natural beaches in Alcúdia, Es Coll Baix. An authentic virgin beach at the foot of the Atalaya de Alcúdia, with an area of 200 m2 of sand and pebbles. A beach surrounded by nature and with turquoise and beautifully clear water. But put on some sturdy footwear since both the access and some areas of the beach are rough under foot.
